Carol Joy Holling Camp
Activities
There are so many interesting, fun, and educational things to do at CJH that you will want to come back time and again to experience them all.
Your entire group can join together for a Carol Joy Holling staff-led outdoor education session or Team Building Adventures. Be sure to schedule your activities when you book your retreat to assure that we have staff available to assist you.

Team Building
Our team-building programs will not only bring new energy to your team, but they will also provide an opportunity to intentionally work on developing and advancing your team’s skills. Working through the challenges together will develop the skills of trust, communication, co-operation, and collaboration.
There are different program options to choose from depending on the goals and abilities of your group. Although all the options are uniquely different, all options are similar in that they offer participants challenges and excitement in a controlled, safe environment with trained facilitators.

Outdoor Education
Carol Joy Holling Center is located on 320 acres near the Salt Creek and Platte River, just outside of Ashland, Neb. The woodlands, prairies, wetlands, spring-fed lake, sandstone outcroppings, and abundant wildlife offer a unique place set apart for exploration, discovery, sharing, and learning. We have several miles of hiking trails, a lake for fishing and pond study, a stargazing deck, campfire rings, overnight accommodations, and more. All types of groups are welcome including public and private schools, home school groups, and church groups. Call today for free pre-event planning to help us meet your group’s individual needs.
Programs
Programs can be tailored to fit your group’s needs. Most programs last 1 hour. Here are possible programs from which you can choose:
- Where in the World: Explore camp using a GPS unit to find the “caches” hidden on our property.
-
Water We Doing? A great program to introduce youth to the importance and beauty of wetlands. Youth get hands-on experience of sifting and collecting aquatic life.
-
Nature Hike: Discover the animals and habitats while hiking the beautiful trails of camp.
-
Owl Prowl: A night program that includes a chance to see and hear the Barred Owl.
-
Let’s Make Tracks: Tracks and Scat are useful in identifying the animal and its role in a habitat. After learning more about animal tracks and scat through fun activities, students go looking for tracks and scat in the wild.
-
Teambuilding 101: A shortened one-hour version of our Co-Op program. This program works to build co-operation, trust, and problem-solving skills.
-
Zipline: Take the ride of your life as you soar off Angel’s cliff and zoom over the depths of the ravine. For 4th grade and older.
